THE STORY
Roots. Research. Everyday rituals.
Nutrition science
Vitamin B3 research developed around understanding nutrition and deficiency. Nicotinamide became important in this broader vitamin story.
From nutrition to dermatology
Researchers studied topical nicotinamide separately from its dietary role. A skincare product and an oral treatment are different contexts.
The modern routine
Niacinamide now appears in cleansers, gels, serums and sunscreens. Product type, concentration and the overall formula influence what that inclusion means.
SOURCE TO FORMULA
The ingredient journey.
It is supplied as a purified cosmetic ingredient. The ingredient name does not establish a botanical source.
01
Ingredient identity
Distinguish nicotinamide from other vitamin B3 forms.
02
Controlled manufacture
Cosmetic ingredients are produced to a defined material specification.
03
Purity and stability
Assess suitability for the intended cosmetic base.
04
Product integration
Combine with the cleansing, moisturizing or sun-care system required by the product.
A LITTLE SCIENCE
One familiar ingredient. Several roles in a balanced skin routine.
Niacinamide, also called nicotinamide, belongs to the vitamin B3 family. Topical studies examine barrier function and other skin outcomes. It is not an exfoliating acid, and it is not identical to every ingredient sold under the broader name niacin.

IN PRACTICE
Make sense of the ingredient.
Barrier-focused care
Topical nicotinamide has been studied for barrier-related measures and hydration. This is one reason it appears in moisturizing formulas.
Oiliness and visible tone
These are common skincare interests associated with niacinamide. The response depends on the finished product and the individual, rather than a guaranteed universal effect.
Pairing with other ingredients
Niacinamide can appear alongside humectants and tone-focused actives. Compatibility should be judged from the finished formulation and how your skin responds.
Reading percentages
A higher concentration is not automatically the better choice. Tolerability and the rest of the formula matter as well as the stated percentage.
Rinse-off products
A face wash is designed to be removed. Its contact time and main purpose differ from those of a leave-on serum.
Leave-on products
A gel, serum or sunscreen stays on the skin according to its directions. Each has a distinct job in the routine.
THE ENICA CONNECTION
Its place in our formulas.
Enica lists Niacinamide in its Face Wash, Creamy Face Gel, Glutathione Face Serum, Sunscreen and Hair Shampoo. Its presence in several formulas should not be read as making those products interchangeable: cleansing, hydration, sun care and hair washing remain different tasks.
