Shilajit

Shilajit is a complex natural material used in Ayurvedic traditions. Its composition varies.

THE STORY

Roots. Research. Everyday rituals.

Traditional context

Shilajit has been used in traditional systems of medicine, including Ayurveda. Historical use provides cultural context but does not establish every modern advertising claim.

A complex composition

Chemical research studies its many constituents rather than treating it as one uniform molecule. Samples from different locations can differ substantially.

The quality question

Current discussions increasingly focus on purification and contaminant control. Heavy-metal and other contamination risks make raw, unprocessed material unsuitable for casual experimentation.

SOURCE TO FORMULA

The ingredient journey.

It occurs as a mountain-rock exudate. Processing and purification affect the finished ingredient.

01

Material origin

Identify the source material and establish traceability.

02

Purification

Remove unwanted material through an appropriate purification process.

03

Characterisation

Assess the resulting composition rather than judging by colour alone.

04

Contaminant checks

Evaluate relevant contaminants and document the finished ingredient specification.

A LITTLE SCIENCE

From a complex natural material to a defined daily format.

Shilajit is a variable mineral-organic material rather than a single vitamin or mineral. Fulvic and humic substances are part of the mixture discussed in research. Its origin and processing affect its composition, so a dark colour, resin texture or dramatic mountain story cannot establish purity or effectiveness.

IN PRACTICE

Make sense of the ingredient.

Energy and vitality

These are common reasons people search for shilajit. Published research is still developing and cannot be generalized to every commercial product.

Resin versus tablets

A format changes how the ingredient is delivered and measured. It does not, on its own, determine purity or biological effect.

Fulvic-acid percentages

A stated percentage describes only part of a complex mixture. It should be read with ingredient identity, testing and serving information.

Reading a product label

Check the preparation, amount per serving and directions. Avoid relying on home authenticity tests as substitutes for documented quality control.

Raw or purified

Raw shilajit and a prepared ingredient are not interchangeable. Purification is central to the safety discussion.

Tradition or clinical evidence

Traditional reputation and controlled studies answer different questions. Neither a historical story nor one laboratory result proves a finished product outcome.

THE ENICA CONNECTION

Its place in our formulas.

Enica lists shilajit extract as the focus of Shilova and includes shilajit alongside Ashwagandha, Ginseng and Safed musli in Viryodha. Shilova is presented around strength and recovery; Viryodha combines several ingredients in a broader vitality formula.

Choose with care.

Ask about purification and contaminant testing. Geographic origin alone does not establish quality.

Composition is not fully characterized and robust clinical evidence remains limited. This does not verify Enica’s geographic source.
