THE STORY

Roots. Research. Everyday rituals.

Before the molecule

Historical observations linked access to fresh foods with prevention of scurvy. The useful food pattern was recognized before the molecule itself was understood.

The 1930s

Researchers including Szent-Györgyi established the identity of ascorbic acid. This work helped shape modern vitamin science.

Modern nutrition

Vitamin C is now obtained through foods, fortified products and supplements. Ingredient forms and product combinations should be read in the context of the whole diet.

SOURCE TO FORMULA

The ingredient journey.

It occurs in fruits and vegetables. Supplements commonly supply ascorbic acid or mineral ascorbates.

01

Food or manufactured ingredient

Vitamin C occurs in foods, while ingredient production supplies defined forms for formulations.

02

Material specification

Identify ascorbic acid or the particular ascorbate used.

03

Stability considerations

Heat, oxygen and storage conditions can affect vitamin C.

04

Finished formula

Match the ingredient to an oral or topical product and its intended conditions of use.

A LITTLE SCIENCE

A familiar vitamin, with a precise role in nutrition.

Vitamin C is an essential nutrient involved in collagen formation and antioxidant processes. It also helps the absorption of non-haem iron from plant foods. These established nutritional roles do not mean that a supplement prevents every illness or that higher intakes always improve outcomes.

IN PRACTICE

Make sense of the ingredient.

Collagen support

The body requires vitamin C in collagen biosynthesis. This nutritional role should not be converted into a guaranteed cosmetic transformation.

Iron absorption

Vitamin C can help absorption of non-haem iron. A varied diet remains a useful context for this function.

Food versus supplements

Fruit and vegetables supply vitamin C alongside other nutrients. A supplement is not a replacement for the full nutritional value of those foods.

More is not always better

Excessive intake can cause gastrointestinal effects and may be unsuitable in some medical contexts. Read the total intake and the product directions.

Oral nutrition

An oral formula contributes to dietary intake. Its evidence and directions concern that route of use.

Topical skincare

A cosmetic vitamin C product is a different formulation problem. Oral nutrition evidence does not automatically establish the performance of a serum.

THE ENICA CONNECTION

Its place in our formulas.

Vitamin C is listed with Glutathione, Grapeseed and Turmeric in Enica’s Glutathione + product. It is presented here as a complementary nutrient in that documented oral formula, without inventing a concentration, special source or clinical result for Enica.

Choose with care.

Meeting nutritional needs is different from taking high doses. Oral and topical products are not equivalent.

Normal nutrient functions do not prove extra cosmetic benefits from a finished supplement.
